This Is Unthinkable

The need for people to step up and join the Powburn Show Committee is now urgent – and we need your help!

THE LAST POWBURN SHOW took place in 2019. Since then, the global coronavirus pandemic has prevented it taking place. Its organisation is overseen by a dedicated committee of volunteers who were looking to 2022 as the first opportunity since the start of the pandemic to have the Show up and running again and, once more, serving the local community. But…

…for personal reasons, three committee members have resigned. These enthusiastic individuals have served on the committee for many years, and we are extremely grateful for their contribution. Their absence will, though, leave significant gaps in the committee: Chairperson, Treasurer, and Industrial Secretary. Unless we can find willing volunteers to take on these roles, the most immediate threat is that the Powburn Show may cease to exist.

This is unthinkable. The Powburn Show & Sheepdog Trials has been a feature of local rural life for decades. The first Saturday in August each year is an opportunity for family and friends to gather in celebration of our time-honoured country traditions; including Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling, pony sports, terrier racing, children’s games, craft exhibits, flower and vegetable displays, and much, much more!

Let’s work together to keep these traditions alive.

We need your help, now!

We urgently need volunteers who are willing to join the Powburn Show Committee and work with existing members to ensure that the Powburn Show can go ahead this year, and in future years.

If you have the enthusiasm to help keep the Powburn Show up and running then please get in touch, using the details below.
