Powburn Show 2023 – All Set!

Saturday 5 August 2023 will come around quickly and, after such a successful comeback Show last year, we’re once again praying for that sunshine and for lots of you to come back through our gates.

Thanks must go to the Dods family for yet again hosting the Powburn Show in such a lovely setting at Brandon White House. We are excited to build on last year’s fun by adding a few more bits and pieces to entertain the children, this year a circus workshop will hopefully entertain little people along with lots more to see and do.

We’re delighted to be hosting the 15 stone Championship Class in the Cumberland Wrestling, which is once again kindly supported by AJ Scott.

We’ve got some of the favourites too, including the fell race, pony sports, terrier racing and much more.

We’re expanding our tent to fit more of our retailers in, who last year reported that they had a great day: we love supporting our local businesses.

We’re praying for fabulous weather, not just for Show Day, but in the run up to allow for a large batch of healthy entries into our sheep classes as well as spectacular home grown produce in our industrial tent. With the cost of living increasing somewhat, we’ve upped our prize money too! Our Show can’t go ahead without the work of many and the kind sponsorship of the businesses around us. This year we’ve been so grateful for continued support from AJ Scott, Mike Hope, NE Concrete and Penny Petroleum who are incredibly generous towards the Show. Additionally, we’ve been overwhelmed by the kind businesses who have supported us by advertising in our 2023 Schedule or who will bring a stand on the day. It takes a mini army to pull the show together and I’m grateful for the wonderful Powburn Show Committee who make it all happen.

Here’s to the sun shining and great 2023 show!

Victoria Bell (Powburn Show Committee Chair)
