Powburn Show 2020 Cancelled
It is with regret that the Powburn Show Committee has made the difficult decision to CANCEL the 2020 POWBURN SHOW, owing to the threat posed by coronavirus/COVID-19. The Show usually takes place in August and it is our hope that the coronavirus will then be under control.
However, the planning for the Show would need to start now and it does not seem right to be seeking sponsorship and commitments from trades people at a time when their current livelihoods are under threat and when they are likely to be concerned about cash flows. In addition, we are mindful of the need to secure the safety of all persons involved in organising and running the Show and the very many visitors who would typically attend the festivities. We feel it would be irresponsible to proceed under the current circumstances.
We trust that everyone who has supported the Show of the past many years, and all those who would have planned to attend the Show, will fully understand this decision.
Our thoughts are with each member of the community and especially elderly and more vulnerable people. We are convinced that the community will pull together at this difficult time to help our neighbours.
Finally, we wish to pay our respects to all those key workers who are working tirelessly to help us all: those in the NHS, Social Services, Police Forces, Fire Services, the armed forces, post officers, delivery drivers, cleaners – far too many to mention. But our thanks go to each and everyone.
